The active ingredient in the fillers is hyaluronic acid. The skin naturally contains hyaluronic acid, but as we age, the production of hyaluronic acid decreases, causing dryness and ageing of the skin.

The duration of the effects of filler treatment varies between the products used. The age, lifestyle, general condition and skin condition of the client also affect the duration of the treatment. Typically, the results of a filler treatment last from a few months to a year. Follow-up treatments increase the stability of the filler, which means that the results of the treatment last longer and also that typically less filler is needed for subsequent treatments.

How much filler is needed and how much does filler treatment cost?

The price of the filler treatment depends on the filler used and its quantity. There are differences in the composition, duration and intended use of the filler products. The amount of filler required will depend on the desired result, the client's skin and age, and the area to be treated. One millilitre of filler can often make a noticeable difference. However, if a more radical change is desired, or the area to be treated is larger, more filler may be needed.
