IPL hair removal
IPL technology for hair removal is unique, so much so that we dare to claim it as the most effective way to remove hair. The device is based on this researched and proven method. With a global patent, IPL technology relies on the interaction of two forms of energy: light and radiofrequency (RF). Light is a pure energy source that is easy to control on a millisecond level, and we use it to heat the targeted area. However, the downside of light is that it requires pigment to convert into heat. Without pigment, there is no heat generation and thus no results. Therefore, a light pulse alone performs less effectively on light brown hairs, which are common among most Scandinavian women and men. IPL technology performs significantly better across a wider range of hair colors, thanks to the combination of radiofrequency (RF) and light.
How does it work?
IPL first sends a powerful light pulse to the targeted area, which heats the pigment in the hair. At the same time, radiofrequency is sent to the target area, which seeks out the preheated pigment in the hair. With IPL, the hair is heated both internally and externally, but selectively, so as not to cause damage to surrounding tissues. IPL also penetrates deeper into the dermis than traditional light technologies.
IPL /laser
Unwanted body hair can be permanently removed. IPL and laser treatments target only the hairs in the growth phase. Since some hairs are in the resting phase, treatment usually needs to be repeated 5-8 times. However, results typically start to show after the first session.
More treatment sessions may be required if there is heavy hair growth, the hairs are lighter in color, or the skin is darker. Strong hormonal activity can also increase hair growth and thus the number of treatment sessions. We use a modern laser device that is effective even on lighter body hair.
Before the treatment
Before treatment, avoid using tanning products for two weeks, and do not undergo treatment with a tanned skin. Refrain from using tanning beds or sunbathing two weeks prior to the IPL treatment. Hair removal methods such as plucking, waxing, sugaring, or mechanical epilation should be stopped six weeks before the procedure. Shaving is permitted.
Before the treatment, it's important to check your medication, both when starting the treatment and during follow-up sessions. Are you currently on antibiotics or any other medication? Certain medications can make your skin more sensitive to light, and in such cases, treatment cannot be performed due to the risk of skin burns during IPL treatment.
The day before the treatment, it's advisable to trim the hair short so that they are easily visible and the treatment can be focused on the desired hair area. Treatment is not administered if the patient has a pacemaker or defibrillator, nor during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
After the treatment
Protect the treated skin area from the sun for a week with clothing or at least SPF 30 sunscreen. This prevents the possibility of skin burning and pigmentation. (Your skin is significantly more sensitive to UV radiation after IPL treatment.) Avoid sauna on the same evening. (Heat and sweating may cause tingling on the skin) Do not peel the treated skin area for two days. (The skin is slightly more delicate during this time) The treated skin area may appear red after the treatment, so cool the area with cool towels.
